Kate Middleton Honors Irish Guards on St. Patrick's Day
Now that's St. Patrick's Day fashion done right.
Kate Middleton continued run of recent royal festivities with her husband away on military duty in the Falkland Islands as she set out to Aldershot, England, to greet and charm the Irish guards on Saturday, March 17.

Clad in an emerald coat dress cinched at the waist, the lovely Kate accessorized with a brown cap, matching pumps, and a bloom of shamrocks on to her lapel.
Kate Middleton also donned a clover pin that once belonged to The Queen Mother, Prince William's great-grandmother, who passed away in 2002.
After presenting soldiers with a basket of shamrocks (a tradition dating back to 1901), the 30-year-old got into the spirit with a sip of Harvey's Bristol Creme sherry.
Her outing also included adorning the Regimental mascot Clonmel (a black dog) with a shamrock on his collar. All in a day's work for the Duchess!

Nokia confirms Lumia 710, 800 to be knighted with mobile hotspot 'soon'
If you've pored over the specs of Nokia's Lumia 710 and 800 handsets during the last few months, you've likely noticed the duo's lack of mobile hotspot functionally. Of course, the Finnish phone maker didn't completely abandoned the feature in Windows Phone, as the ability to turn your device into a portable access point will ship with its flagship Lumia 900 and the recently announced 610 at launch. Nokia admitted that the feature would be coming to the 800 months ago, and now Elop & Company have announced that the 710 is also on the shortlist. A recent Q&A post on its Connects blog explained that software updates will be "coming soon" -- by way of Zune update -- to remedy the discrepancy between the old and new. No word on what Nokia's definition of "soon" is, but you can find all the available details at the source link below.

In Puerto Rico, Romney repeats Sotomayor criticism
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) ? Campaigning in Puerto Rico ahead of Sunday's presidential primary, Mitt Romney refused to back off criticism of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and encouraged residents to speak English.
The justice, nominated by President Barack Obama in 2009, is beloved by local Democrats and Republicans as the high court's first member of Puerto Rican descent.
"In looking at Justice Sotomayor, my view was her philosophy is quite different than my own and that's the reason why I would not support her as a justice for the Supreme Court," Romney told reporters Friday afternoon, just minutes after his plane touched down in San Juan. "I would be happy to have a justice of Puerto Rican descent or a Puerto Rican individual on the Supreme Court, but they would have to share my philosophy, that comes first."
The issue puts Romney at odds with a majority of local voters and his most prominent Puerto Rican supporter, Gov. Luis Fortuno, standing at Romney's side as the former governor or Massachusetts made his remarks. It also underscores the challenges facing Republican candidates as they bring popular conservative rhetoric to an area packed with Hispanic voters ahead of Sunday's GOP president primary.
Romney and his rival Rick Santorum have supported the conservative push to formalize English as the official language across the country. On Puerto Rico, an American territory that will vote on its political status, including statehood, on Nov. 6, most residents speak Spanish as their primary language.
Santorum made headlines earlier in the week after saying that Puerto Rico would have to adopt English as its main language to attain statehood, a dominant political issue here.
"I have no doubt that one of the requirements that will be put forth to Congress is a requirement that English would be universal here on the island," Santorum told a local newspaper. "That doesn't mean that people can't speak Spanish in their homes, or in their business, or on the street, but that everyone would have a proficiency in English."
In a January presidential debate, Romney suggested that English should be the official language for all states.
"I think our position on English in our schools and in our nation is the same, which I believe English should be the official language of the United States, as it is," Romney said in the debate.
He appeared to back off that position Friday in regards to Puerto Rico's statehood, which he said should have no preconditions regarding language.
"English has been an official language of Puerto Rico for 100 years," he told local reporters. "Selecting the words of your governor, Spanish is the language of Puerto Rico's heritage; English is the language of opportunity. I would hope that young people would learn both languages, but particularly English."
Hours later, Romney was the featured guest at a boisterous evening rally in Old San Juan, where virtually no English was spoken in the four hours before he took the stage. Fortuno sat at Romney's side periodically translating.
As the music blared, a visibly uncomfortable Romney clapped his hands as people on the stage danced around him.
"What a wonderful people you are ? citizens of this great land, citizens of America," Romney declared in a speech that spanned last less than seven minutes. "I respect the people of this island."
Puerto Rico is set to hold its GOP presidential primary on Sunday. While there are 20 delegates at stake, Republicans want to make inroads with Hispanic voters, a growing voting bloc across the country, but are complicating their efforts with such talk.
Romney was also forced to defend a New York Times report suggesting that Romney profited from his former company's role in expanding the Chinese government surveillance programs.
"I'm not familiar with that report and so I really can't respond to it," Romney said, adding that he left his former company, Bain Capital, in 1999. "Any investments that I made are managed by a blind trust. I don't make investments in Bain or anywhere else."
Romney had planned to spend three days in Puerto Rico, but will return to Illinois ? which hosts its GOP primary Tuesday ? after only about 24 hours on the island.
In a conference call, a prominent Romney supporter, former New Hampshire Gov. John H. Sununu, suggested that Santorum's language comments "doomed" his campaign here, allowing Romney to cut short his Puerto Rico visit
"Santorum embarrassed himself so badly in Puerto Rico that it's quite easy for Gov. Romney to be in Illinois these days," Sununu said.

You don't have to be an elderly Aunt Agatha to remember when feminism was about equal rights and equal pay. In those heady days of righteousness unbound, not all women cheered the revolution, but most did. Our mothers and grandmothers who enjoyed the freedom of being full-time moms, home for the kids after school, nevertheless believed that pay scales deprived women of what was rightly theirs.
But soon women of the generation of stay-at-home moms felt the sting of condescension, targets of the pioneering women they first cheered. They had become the enemy in a new war, women vs. women. The mommies lost that war, and their daughters went on to full-time careers. Today, women are the majority sex in college and graduate school, including the schools of law and medicine.
The sexual revolution brought freedom -- and privilege -- to women that an earlier generation never dreamed of. Alas, like most revolutions, the feminist revolution, for all of its earnest and idealistic beginnings, has been blighted by unintended consequences. A new class of victim, the single mom, has been abandoned by men to raise children alone. Not so long ago, a man who fathered a child with a woman he wouldn't (or couldn't) marry suffered stigma and reproach, perhaps from men more than women. That was before "illegitimacy" became the "new normal." Now, more than half of babies born to mothers under 30 are born outside marriage. The trend accelerates.
These single moms are not the college-educated career women who have climbed the ladder of rank and prosperity. "Marriage has become a luxury good," sociologist Frank Furstenberg of the University of Pennsylvania tells The New York Times. Fully 90 percent of college-educated women who become mothers are married. They discovered something besides book learning behind the ivy-covered walls. The big losers are women without the advantages of prosperity. The racial breakdown of unwed mothers is stark and dramatic: 73 percent of black children, 53 percent of Latino children and 29 percent of white children are born to single mothers.
These are more than statistics. Any of us can recite the litany of disadvantages inherited by children raised without fathers. They are more likely to experience poverty, to do poorly in school, to wind up on the wrong side of the law and to repeat the grim cycle in their own generation.

Catapult games are fun. And popular. And pretty much everywhere you look. In a genre that has been around for what seems like an eternity, it?s got to become boring and monotonous sometime, right? Well, not if every game works to the same standard as Oh My Nuts does. By bringing a bunch of unfamiliar and unique elements into play, Oh My Nuts becomes something quite different from its catapult-cousins; a fun and rewarding game that goes way beyond slinging something from one side of the screen to another.
The basic level plays out as follows: a little squirrel jumps into the mouth of a pig, which proceeds to spit it out at an angle of your choice. From there, you either fly through the sky unhindered, collecting as many of the three stars on your route as you can, or perhaps avoiding evil birds that block your way. There are other ways to win, such as firing the squirrel into a barrel, which spins round and allows you to relaunch in your direction of choice.
With all these devices, it?s not about getting lucky, something which arguably has fueled players of popular games such as Angry Birds and the recent Ragdoll Blaster 3. Instead, Oh My Nuts bases itself on crafting a strategy, surveying the level?s design, and then acting out every step of your meticulously planned process. In this respect, the game oozes reward ? when you?ve taken the time to plan your approach, as well as a little bit of trial and error, it?s really exciting to complete the level with three stars. And of course, for such a low price, it really is a bargain ? an addictive, fun, and most importantly, worthwhile game to play.

Dracula: The Last Sanctuary (?2.49/$3.99, Microids) Universal
If you want an almost unhealthy level of chills, thrills, and general intense scariness, Dracula: The Last Sanctuary is certainly a game you want to seriously consider. The game serves as a clue-finding, exploration puzzler, in which hidden items must be recovered if you wish to progress. We saw a similar entry into the Hot List several weeks ago in the form of Royal Trouble. Although based on the same idea and gameplay, it?s great to see that the hidden clue genre can go in such a different direction, and give players such a different emotional ride. Dracula: The Last Sanctuary is chilling from the very start, with an impressive opening cinematic and engaging story.
As for the gameplay itself, Dracula: The Last Sanctuary shines brightly. Well, not literally, as that wouldn?t be very scary, but despite all the dark corridors and creaking floorboards, the game is thoroughly enjoyable, clever, and challenging. Most importantly, perhaps, is how it plays. Dracula: The Last Sanctuary is also available on Mac, and that shows through the game?s command of control. Looking around using the touch-screen is simple ? something I look for in any game, but it?s sometimes quite unexpectedly impressive. Interacting with the world within the game is also enjoyable for its straightforwardness. Overall, in Dracula: The Last Sanctuary, players are getting a polished, enjoyable title that will keep the hairs on the back of their necks standing on end, as well as their fingers firmly on their iOS device.
For all of these great compliments I?m paying the game, I can see why Dracula: The Last Sanctuary has not been lavished with attention on the App Store ? its price tag. While not a lot of people will be willing to pay so much for an iOS game, it is deep, it has a story (which is more than I can say for a lot of iOS titles), and it will keep you entertained, and surely that?s what you want from any game. For a price, you can have all this!

You may remember a short while ago, BNBGAMING announced the upcoming release of PikPok?s Monster Flip. Well, now it?s here, we?ve got our hands on it, and it?s everything we hoped it would be. From its adorable and funny character designs, to its quirky music and sounds, to its stellar gameplay, everything about Monster Flip will have you coming back for more.
Monster Flip is made up of a wide variety of modes, from the simple classic mode to the trickier puzzle mode and the frantic countdown mode. The object is simple ? swipe your finger across a selection of monsters to see them flip with each other, and try to match up three or more. We?ve seen games like this before, countless times, but there is clearly still room for novelty in the genre, as Monster Flip proves. What makes the game stand out is its atmosphere. In classic mode, there is no time limit, there is no countdown spurring you on to make increasingly desperate moves. It?s just you, some cute little monsters, and however long you want to take. You progress to the next level by filling the level bar at the top of the screen, so the whole mode is very relaxed and leisurely. Puzzle mode is more of a challenge, in which you must match up the monsters in a certain amount of moves, and countdown mode is self-explanatory. Overall, PikPok have created an enjoyable game for anybody ? this is perhaps one of the most diverse game genres out there, and while it may prove to be predictable and boring in the coming years, as long as there are still games like Monster Flip shaking things up, I?ll continue to enjoy them.

Sometimes, simpler is better. So don?t judge me for playing a children?s game and thoroughly enjoying it (while learning something, too). Awesome Eats is a fairly straightforward game ? swipe the vegetables and fruit into the right lanes to get them into the baskets, all before the time runs out. The more you get into the basket, the more points you?ll get, and the closer you?ll get to getting three stars on each level. Yes, it?s simple, but it?s fun, and after all, it?s a children?s game; you can?t expect people with such tiny fingers to be able to play games that are too complicated!
People of all ages will enjoy the challenge of Awesome Eats, and you?ll probably learn a little something too. It?s a great and simple game, and for the low price of nothing, there really are no excuses for not eating your veg ? because eating a diet rich in green vegetables will boost your health and support healthy energy levels.

How public speaking can help children | Public Speaking for Kids

Tom is a student at the University of Aberdeen. Below he relates his story of how public speaking improved his academic attainment.
I was always a confident child. I have no idea why, but I always welcomed things as a challenge rather than as a problem. I always felt I had an excess of energy and if I never utilised every last drop it would become counter-productive, making me feel I would implode.
From the age of seven I threw myself into a variety of sports and also joined Cubs to find outlets for my boundless energy. My confidence continued to grow as I excelled in all my extracurricular activities, being recognised as the leader in all sporting situations.
By the time I started high school, my energy became a problem. I found it difficult to sit still and concentrate in class. My confidence made me feel comfortable playing up as a ?jack the lad?; amusing myself and others in class through disruptive behaviour to get through the boredom.
Recognising that school was moving too slow for my hyperactive yet intellectually adept nature, my parents searched for school-related activities that could absorb my energy and focus my mind. After trying the after- school drama and chess clubs, I eventually opted for the debating society.
Impromptu speaking cam natural to me. What I found difficult was having to write and prepare short speeches. Initially the research seemed tedious and my concentration was lacking. My parents supported me. I loved the adrenaline rush of having to think on my feet to back up counter arguments during a debate. I focussed on believing that if I never did my research properly and fully I would not have the ability to enjoy the thrill of impromptu speaking to defend myself against counter arguments.
This kept me engaged in school. I soon realised that the skills I gained from public speaking and the various public speaking subjects I researched helped me excel in the humanities, improving my concentration and enthusiasm whilst absorbing my energy.

Pfizer scraps insulin deal with India's Biocon
MUMBAI (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc, the world's largest drugmaker, has scrapped a deal to sell insulin products made by Biocon Ltd, leaving India's biggest biotech company without a partner to sell the drugs in key global markets such as the United States.
The two companies cited "individual priorities" as the reason for the split in a joint statement released on Tuesday, which immediately ends a relationship that stood to earn Biocon hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties.
"The development is definitely negative for Biocon's insulin sales as it will have to look for new partners," said Bino Pathiparampil, an analyst at Mumbai-based brokerage IIFL.
"This is mainly because of strategy confusion...Pfizer's business strategy has been changing over the last two to three years, which probably has led to this development."
Biocon will retain royalties worth $150 million from Pfizer and stands to receive an undisclosed amount from the U.S. drugmaker as a severance payment, Biocon's chairman, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, told CNBC-TV18 news channel on Tuesday.
Pfizer made upfront payments of $200 million to Biocon and the Indian drugmaker was eligible to receive additional development and regulatory milestone payments of up to $150 million, on top of royalties on sales.
"We are tweaking down our estimates for Biocon for the fiscal year 2013 after this news, for sure," said Siddhant Khandekar, an analyst at ICICI Direct in Mumbai. "We expect a 1.5 to 2 rupees hit on their earnings per share, from 20.4 rupees down to around 18.4 rupees."
Biocon's shares fell more than 7 percent in early trading on Tuesday after the split was announced. At 10:50 a.m. (0520 GMT) the company's stock was down 4.5 percent at 255.55 rupees ($5.11), in a Mumbai market up 1.2 percent.
"INDIVIDUAL PRIORITIES"
The Biocon-Pfizer divorce is the latest blow for relations between Indian drugmakers and their global peers and comes a day after Germany's Bayer lost a landmark ruling in India, forcing it to grant a compulsory licence for its cancer treatment Nexavar to Natco Pharma.
The Bayer ruling is likely to unnerve international pharmaceutical companies that see emerging markets like India as a major growth opportunity, but remain worried about intellectual property protection in such countries.
Biocon said in November that it was searching for a global partner for its experimental oral insulin pill, which if commercialized, could have entered the market as a direct competitor to the Pfizer-marketed drugs.
"The companies have agreed that due to the individual priorities for their respective bio-similars businesses, it is in their best interest to move forward independently," the two companies said in the joint statement.
The October 2010 deal gave Pfizer exclusive rights to commercialize bio-similars of human insulin Glargine, Aspart and Lispro developed by Biocon.
The United States alone has 18 million diabetic patients and a healthcare cost of approximately $200 billion per year associated with the disease. By 2030, the number of people living with diabetes in the U.S. is expected to hit 30 million.
Biocon in January blamed poor financial results for the quarter to end-December on lower licensing income, and said it expected income from sales of its products by others would be the key driver of its growth.
"Biocon will continue to work with its existing partners in several markets and will pursue a commercial strategy on its own and through new alliances in other markets," Mazumdar Shaw said in the statement.
All rights licensed to Pfizer revert to Biocon as of March 12, the statement said.

Review: Motorstorm RC (Vita) | Video Game News, Reviews, Game ...
An Experiment in Great Ideas
It?s a testament to the strength of the PlayStation Vita?s launch lineup that Motorstorm RC arrives as a digital download through the PlayStation Network. As the latest entry in a popular and largely successful PlayStation 3 racing franchise, Motorstorm RC could quite easily have found itself as a full-priced retail release. It has the brand awareness, the studio pedigree and the content to more than justify a place alongside the likes of Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048 on store shelves.
But Motorstorm RC is more than just a content-packed racing game. This is an experimental vision of Sony?s future for cross-platform support and functionality between PlayStation 3 and Vita. This is a release that shows Sony is as serious about taking on the value proposition of iOS as it is about delivering console-like experiences on the go. For a cost of just ?4.79 ? or absolutely free for a limited time in the US ? Motorstorm RC lets players download and play the game on both PlayStation 3 and Vita, with seamless interaction between the two versions. Is Motorstorm RC simply an experiment, or a more well-assembled collection of excellent ideas?
Storming in Miniature
Gameplay-wise, Evolution has opted to remove itself from the previous Motorstorm formula and instead revisit a rather ignored offshoot of the racing genre. The typical Motorstorm model has been replaced here by an isometric view, with its hulking big rigs and buggies now taking the form of miniature remote control cars, evoking memories of the likes of Mashed, Micro Machines and Super Off Road. Thanks to the Vita?s dual analogue sticks, you can even control the vehicles like you would a real remote control car, using both the left and right stick to change direction and accelerate or reverse. Thankfully, though, the controls are totally customisable for those such as myself who found this difficult to get to grips with in practice.
While the camera and scale of the action has clearly changed significantly, the racing itself is largely cut from the same cloth as the previous four Motorstorm games. Vehicles range from the sluggish but empowering monster trucks, to all-purpose buggies and rally cars, right through to the fast but difficult to handle super cars. Each vehicle class is built to offer its own strengths and weaknesses across different terrain, and it won?t take long to work out which of the eight variations is best suited to the course type under your tires, particularly when the single-player events start to ramp up in difficulty later in the game, and the pre-defined vehicle and track selections are specially designed to test your ability in the face of adversity.
The courses themselves are built from the foundations of Motorstorm history, with sixteen tracks split between four different environment types. There?s the mountainous dust and dirt of the original Motorstorm, the water hazards and mud of ?Pacific Rift?, the ice and snow of ?Arctic Edge? and the crumbled tarmac and collapsed obstacles of ?Apocalypse?. The tracks themselves are generally rather small, with lap times coming in anywhere between 15 and 25 seconds, but each course variant is unique in both design and feel, offering a wide variety of racing conditions to overcome. For fans of the series, the opportunity to race through the lush greenery of Pacific Rift?or the crisp tundras of Arctic Edge on a miniature scale is a real thrill, and some of the attention to detail in track design here is simply beautiful.
You Just Got Destroyed
The single-player game is comprised of a rather simple but effective event system, with each of the four environment types broken up into a series of race, time trial, overtake and drift events, with three medals available to earn in each depending on your performance. With 144 medals to obtain, there?s plenty to sink your teeth into, and the difficulty will become increasingly challenging towards the end of each set of events.
Beyond the single-player campaign, however, the real meat of Motorstorm RC is in its excellent social integration. While connected to the internet over WiFi or 3G, Motorstorm RC will keep constant track of your friends? lap times and high scores. You?ll receive notifications when a buddy beats your score, usually with a demoralising message such as ?Mr. Blobby destroyed your score on X?, and pressing the X button whenever such a message appears will instantly take you to the same track in order to attempt to beat their latest record. The Pitwall feature on the main menu also allows you to keep a constant check of your friends? updated times, and after beating an event in the single-player game you?ll even be offered the option to send a direct challenge to your friends via Facebook. Some of this might sound like standard social network fluff ? and I must confess it?s not the sort of thing that personally tends to float my boat either ? but the way lap times and high scores are seamlessly integrated into the whole experience is really impressive, to the point where one-upmanship becomes a compulsion. It adds a layer of extra competitive edge, rather than becoming invasive or distracting.
Given such strong emphasis on the social aspects of Motorstorm RC, it?s a shame that the game is rather lacking in true multiplayer modes. The Vita version is absent of any multiplayer at all beyond attempting to beat your friends? high scores, and although the PlayStation 3 version includes a four-player split screen mode, this lacks some of the personal competitiveness or charm of the likes of Micro Machines or Mashed. With up to three of your buddies on the same track, there?s a constant itch to level the playing field with a well-placed missile or novelty-sized mallet strike. Their inclusion would look out-of-place in terms of Motorstorm?s weapon-less history, so I appreciate why they?re absent, but the desire to use them in a competitive environment remains the same regardless. Unfortunately, the four-player split screen feels a little soulless and perhaps even bland without. The lack of true?competitive?multiplayer feels like something of a missed opportunity, particularly in terms of potentially joining Wipeout 2048 in offering cross-platform multiplayer between the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions.
The Final Verdict
As a portable game, Motorstorm RC hits the right spot in almost every way. The transition from loud and brash off-road racer to remote control arcade score attacking is done with precision and without compromise to the core Motorstorm mechanics, and given the lack of similar games this generation, it?s a game which feels fresh and exciting for the effort. The racing itself is fast and frantic, and the game is built around an intuitive, socially driven UI which keeps the competition flowing for as long as your friends list continues to actively play the game. It doesn?t quite match the personality of a Micro Machines, and the lack of multiplayer keeps the game just short of greatness, but Motorstorm RC is nevertheless a smart and well-designed addition to the PlayStation Network.
As an experiment in offering value, Motorstorm RC is an unquestionable success, well worth playing whichever of the two consoles you play on. This may or may not be the best Vita game currently available, depending on your preference, but at just ?4.79 for two versions of a game packed with content and good ideas, it?s by far one of the easiest to recommend.
